Macka’s Coaching Clinic : REFLEXOLOGY AND NEURO-LINGUISTIC PROGRAMMING
Facts: Let us look at your lawn bowling preparation and performance in another light; reflexologists believe that all the body’s vital organs have corresponding points on the foot. These skills can alleviate a headache, relieve back pain, settle a stomach problem or many forms of anxiety e.g. the nervous system, just as long as you know which parts of the sole to massage and manipulate. Does that sound far-fetched? “Well it shouldn’t be!” Now hear another one about Neuro-Linguistic Programming in preparation and performance which relates to many sports, particularly Lawn Bowls e.g. “Eye and Hand Alignment”, if you concentrate on an aiming point; control all eye movement and concentrate on the hand alignment in the follow-through, from the time you step behind the mat to the end of the physical and mental action, you will control your other senses no matter what delivery style you use e.g. your internal thoughts, hearing, feeling, taste and smell. “Just think about it!”

Macka’s Coaching Clinic : HOW TO BE YOURSELF
The steps: The most commonly used phases in the history of coaching are “be yourself” or “imitate and play like a top bowler”. But to some, it’s such a vague adage and to others it may appear quite daunting! You might even think “Is the coach trying to create another you?” What do they really mean when they tell you to act out your choice of high performance bowlers? Well for most of us, it’s not as easy as it sounds! So to help you along that path this presentation gives you the following steps to improve your overall performance.
Macka’s Coaching Clinic : The Required Mind-Set to Tactics
Mind-set: Are you ready for the competition? Before you answer that, let’s try another question. Were you fully ready for the last game or competition, you weren’t! None of us have ever really been fully ready for some of the experiences that we have had to face in our games. Or at least, we have not felt ready. That doesn’t mean that what’s happening to us in the game is bad or wrong play. When something different occurs you probably don’t feel ready for what has happened or starting to happen within your capacity of knowledge and skill. When this ever occurs; be calm, cool and collective; give your head a chance to clear your startled or puzzled thoughts. Go ahead and roll with the experience anyway. You won’t be sorry. Worried? Don’t be, we have recorded a few basic tips that will help keep you in control of your actions. Some clues to the required mind-set to tactics is the team unity in what you do together as one, this is as follows;
Macka’s Coaching Clinic : BE PREPARED FOR THE ATTITUDE AND INTENSITY DROP
Introduction: In the following circumstances; when the team’s desire is to win an event or premiership, or to go back and do it again, then you are suddenly confronted throughout a game or series of games that the team’s attitude and intensity has dropped to a horror of abhorrence. This is an area of being contrite e.g. broken in spirit by a sense of guilt, it’s a case of falling out of the team’s comfort zone; a feeling that all that work seems to have gone down the drain. In retrospect, it may also mean that you have never really prepared for it in your training schedule.
Macka’s Coaching Clinic : CREATING A CLUB CULTURE TO WIN
Introduction: In lawn bowls creating a club culture to win relates to providing an inducement which relates to improving the club supporting atmosphere and bowling performance of its playing members. It is a course of action that changes the way everyone thinks about the past and present culture; a way which brings together the competitive enthusiasm of its members and players alike, a reason for a club culture change and how to accomplish it.
Macka’s Coaching Clinic : ATTITUDES
INTRODUCTION
The big question: In lawn bowls, the correct attitude is not inborn, it’s a mental outlook that is developed from game experience and knowledge on how we approach and react mentally and physically to the game. Everyone thinks and reacts different to various situations and what we say and do at that particular incident in time is what others make attitude judgements. Now I emphasise the word “judgements” because everyone judges you different and it’s generally in accordance with the precepts of their own personality. The only thing they agree on is that your attitude has to change. Now the big question here is; if they are all different in judgement what the hell should we change! Now that I’ve got your attention read on.
